What I’m Grateful For: Ability to Take a Break
What I’m Grateful for this week is the ability to take a break. Even a long one. I stopped writing the words for the weekend a few years ago, a bit before Covid. It was taking up a lot of time to write them each week, and I felt frustrated by the energy that it was consuming and I decided – maybe I can take a break!? And then I realized that no one would give me permission to stop writing this but me, myself and I – and it was pretty hard to grant myself that grace. But once I did, it was a great relief off my shoulders and felt great for quite some time. Over the years though, I kept hearing folks ask why I wasn’t doing it any more, and many told me that they missed it, so I decided to start it again, right now, TODAY! So – if you are struggling under the weight of some commitment you made to yourself that you are having a hard time fulfilling, and if you can (legally, morally, ethically and without getting divorced or losing your job) go ahead and give yourself permission to take a break. Even a long break. Maybe even a break with no clear idea if you will ever start it again. It’s a blessing to be free, and it’s even a great blessing to feel the joy that comes with choosing – at long last – to begin again. Welcome to Words for the Weekend, Volume 1, 2024.
What I’m Reading: Reasons Not to Worry – How to Be Stoic in Chaotic Times by Brigid Delaney. This is a great addition to the Stoic library and if you are new to Stoic philosophy, a great starting point. It’s approachable and practical and funny. Honestly, I love it. Read a page or two every morning to get your head on straight for the day, no matter what it brings – chaos, flat tires, grumpy kids, insensitive and demanding people, lack of motivation – all these become so much easier after a short dose of reading this book!
Tip for the Week: This is Tip One of a series coming from our team strategist and warm-weather-loving Gene Ramos down in Tampa. (Yes, we like to keep it super real by having ourselves at either end of the continental USA. Go figure!)
Tip Number One: Listen up, if you’re not leveraging social media and digital marketing, you’re leaving money on the table. I’m talking about serious cash. You need to get your entire team promoting listings on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter…Yep, the whole taco tuesday. Run some split tests with paid ads. Create video walkthroughs. Have you heard about virtual tours and AI? They’re insane. But will leave that for another Tech-Tip. I’m telling you, digital is the future of real estate marketing. Don’t get left behind, take action now! (for more, reach out to Gene and he will help you create some ideas you can put into action this year! Just reply to this email and I’ll set you up on a zoom date!) – Gene R.
