What I’m Grateful For: Children’s Books

My 12-year-old daughter and I recently did a “girl’s getaway” – an overnight stay at truly lovely place (Sun Mountain Lodge if you have to know!) We checked in and decided to peruse the gift shop before getting to our room. I had a few bath bombs, a magazine and a bottle of wine in my arms when I stumbled across a little board book – Snuggle Puppy. My daughter’s favorite book in the whole wide world (when she was two, of course). Our original copy was long gone, having been read to death – both by us, and subsequently by the ‘real’ puppy about a year after Lachlyn grew out of the book. Seeing it there, bright and shiny and new, brought tears to my eyes as I recalled singing her the silly Snuggle Puppy song over and over again. My daughter, embarrassed by her crazy mom but grudgingly tolerant as she usually is, managed to keep her eye rolling to a minimum as I asked the clerk to ring up our treasures. Now the book is sitting on my counter, waiting for a good time to be read – and sung aloud! – again. Maybe when she’s sleeping…. 🙂

What I’m Reading: Been another crazy week…. so (drumroll please)…..

Snuggle Puppy by Sandra Boynton. If you have a youngster somewhere in your life, this one is perfect for terribly cheesy reading and singing along….
