What I’m grateful for: Math

My 11-year-old daughter is in online school and the curriculum is fairly rigorous. We are working on math right now, pretty much the only subject that she needs any help on. This week we hit a breakthrough and I saw her realize how incredibly beautiful math is – because until you get into the very high levels of math, there’s always a right and a wrong answer. With the nuance and ambiguity of things like writing, art, music and history, math is simple and clear – right or wrong. As a business owner, I love the predictability and elegance of a well-executed story problem with a single correct answer at the end.

We have embarked on a wildly important goal for Cevado – to have 100% client satisfaction by this week of 2019. To get from here to there, we will be using strategies and tactics that are very math-like – each step is small and incremental, and we will be looking at each part of the equation for accuracy along the way. Every week for this year, each department and individual at Cevado will be identifying and refining the processes, behaviors and mindsets that will make our client satisfaction a clear and resounding 100%.

I am excited that you are going to be part of the ride, and I want to hear back from you as you have any experience – positive or negative – that can help us achieve our goal.

What I’m reading– Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth. If you ever found yourself wondering how some succeed and others don’t, read this book. Really take it in. The research is solid and documented, the evidence is scientific and the writing is rock-solid. Want to become a master at something? Grit is essential, non-negotiable, and massively powerful.

Tip from Nick The late Chet Holmes the author of “The Ultimate Sales Machine”, said sales is 70% rapport and 30% sales process. Rapport = FORD + connection points. FORD is an acronym to guide to help you kick start building a relationship with your clients. Ask questions about Family, Occupation, Recreation and Dreams. Connection points are commonalities between you, your client, and your community.

Quick Web Tip – Remember: a picture can be worth 1,000 words – and the right attention to your listing photography could mean 10,000 more dollars in your and your sellers pockets at the end of the day. To get the most out of your mobile phone for photography purposes, make sure you turn on your photo grid in your camera settings. Then when you go to take a photo, a ‘Rule of Thirds’ grid will be overlaid on your screen and you can position your shot accordingly. You will want to ensure that the most important elements of your composition are positioned where the lines on the grid meet.
