Google’s new algorithm could cost you customers.
Okay, folks here’s the deal, is your website set up for mobile?
There’s this new thing called “Mobilegeddon” (well, the new version of it anyhow). Apparently, folks are freaking out about it. Here’s why…
It’s pretty much just taking mobile sites and making them way more visible than non-mobile friendly sites in searches. This is a big deal for a lot of our clients who haven’t upgraded in a while.
More and more people are utilizing their mobile devices to search for Real Estate if your site is not mobile friendly it will not load on these mobile devices or have a very slow upload time and be very hard to navigate which in the long run will cause you to lose business.
Google works for the end user, so they want the searcher (your potential customer) to be able to find what they are looking for in the first page. If your site is not mobile chances are you will LOSE your place for a more mobile friendly site.
So, how can you tell if your site is mobile friendly? Here’s the down and dirty Googlebot “mobile friendly” criteria:
-Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash
-Uses text that is readable without zooming
-Sizes content to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom
-Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped
-Mobilegeddon means that rankings and ratings for our peeps could tank in SEO if they aren’t ready.
This deals with all languages as well.
But why should a Real Estate Professional care about this?
Well, this new algorithm can kill your search engine ranking, or not change much depending on your circumstances. If you have an in-house website from a national real estate branch, your search engine rankings are already pretty low, I’d wager. However, if you have a mobile-friendly site, you have a better chance of keeping up with the rest of the pack.
